Central Florida Chili Cookoff 2026: A Spicy Success in Hamlin

Community gathers for a flavorful fundraiser supporting local education initiatives

Winter Garden, FL—The aroma of simmering spices filled the air as the 5th Annual Central Florida Chili Cookoff took center stage at Hamlin's Green Space on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Hosted by Legacy Events for Education, this beloved event drew hundreds of attendees eager to sample a diverse array of chili recipes crafted by over 30 local chefs and restaurants.

Among the participants was Candace Knight, who continued her family's rich tradition of chili competitions dating back to 1975.

Her booth, adorned with vibrant chili pepper decorations, paid homage to her parents' original saloon-themed setup.

Guests meandered through the expansive green space, indulging in hearty chili tastings while enjoying live music and family-friendly activities.

The event featured food trucks, dessert vendors, and a dedicated Kids Zone complete with bounce houses and yard games, ensuring entertainment for all ages.

Notably, Rockin Robyn’s served their award-winning chili, which clinched the 2025 Florida State CASI Championship.

Another standout was Earl’s No Mumbo Jumbo Chili, whose booth highlighted a heartfelt mission to support childhood cancer awareness, inspired by a family member's triumph over the disease.

The cookoff also showcased the collaborative spirit of local businesses, with teams like ADROIT Roofing and Alpha Insurance joining forces to present their unique chili creations.

Proceeds from the event support Legacy Events for Education's mission to inspire students, teachers, and communities to leave a lasting impact.

Since its inception, the organization has awarded over $120,000 in scholarships and grants to local graduates and schools.

As the sun set over Hamlin, the community's shared passion for chili and education was evident, making the 2026 cookoff a resounding success.

Attendees left with satisfied palates and the warm feeling of contributing to a meaningful cause.
